WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WEREN’T A RECRUITER?

Professional Footballer (Well that was always the dream anyway)! 

If I were to be more realistic though, I’ve always enjoyed both sport and physiology so a role that could combine the two and focus on performance and well-being would be cool.

OUTSIDE OF WORK, TELL US ABOUT you.

Outside of work, I like to keep things fairly simple. If I’m not in the ring training for an upcoming boxing bout, sitting in front of the TV watching a Netflix series, or enjoying one too many beers while watching a Football game, I’ll most likely be with my partner exploring somewhere new.

WHAT IS YOUR FONDEST MEMORY SINCE DOING RECRUITMENT?

I once partnered with a candidate based in Romania who was looking for a new role, despite loving the role he was in and the environment he had always known, he wanted to give his son the chance to attend a well-recognised school in a location with unquestionable opportunity. 

The partnership was ongoing for over 3 months and included working together to find a new home-based in London, reviewing Ofsted reports on local schools, and finally having dinner with the whole family to ease any concerns on such a big move. 

Nearly 4 years on the candidate is still with my client, his son is doing well at school (I hear he is quite the swimmer) and the family is happily settled. 

It’s partnerships like this, which keep me wanting to do what I do.

WHAT WOULD YOU IMPROVE ABOUT THE INDUSTRY?

Stereotypes. This isn’t just in a single case but instead, something I see multiple times throughout each day! 

Whether it’s categorising all recruiters as being the same,  assuming Developers who haven’t followed the ‘standard’ career path are less talented or thinking hands on Engineers must all be shy; these stereotypes need to stop!

IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH 1 PUBLIC FIGURE WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE?

I’d have to decide between: 

Elon Musk - I’ve always admired Elon’s bold approach, so would love to get an insight into the decision-making process he goes through when committing to his next project. (It would also give me a chance to invest early £££) 

Oprah Winfrey - Having interviewed a number of the biggest stars on the planet I’m sure Oprah would have thousands of stories to share, she is also hilarious so it would be a lot of fun! 

Ant Middleton - Having read both ‘First Man In’ and ‘The Fear Bubble’ I’ve personally grown using the phycological methods Ant explains so would love to hear more.
