If you had one superpower, what would it be and why?
It would probably be to be able to bring films into the real world.
Imagine if the Avengers were real! Would James Bond and Luke Skywalker get on? Imagine having 40+ versions of Leonardo Di Caprio walking around or trying out living as an Avatar for a few weeks. The list goes on...
Who’s your celebrity lookalike?
When Dani Dyer was on Love Island, I was told quite often we looked alike; I don't see it personally. I think it's because she lives around the corner, and our mannerisms are very similar.
What would you change about the industry?
If I could change one thing about the industry, I would shift everyone towards a community-driven mindset and help people see that if you're dealing with the right recruiters, they can add value to you in so many more ways than just hiring. What I love most about this job is bringing incredible people together and watching the magic happen. The tech sector is already growing at 2.5 times the rate of other industries, and we are right in the middle of it. If this industry can become more collaborative and community-led, can you imagine the number of incredible ideas and products that could be formed?
What’s your Fondest memory since doing recruitment?
I went to Amsterdam to host a roundtable event. I travelled in for Kingsday, which, for those who don't know, is the biggest celebration the Dutch have. Google it, it's crazy!
That morning, I met a contractor I had been in contact with for about three years. He invited me to his house, and I met both his daughters and his wife, and we had breakfast together. He is now genuinely a good friend of mine, and we have built such an authentic relationship through originally just speaking about a contract role. That is what I love most about this job: moving as far away as I can from the transactional approach and building genuine, long-standing relationships with people I know I will work with.
If you could have dinner with someone famous, who are you choosing?
It would have to be David Goggins; I think his life is fascinating.
He is a true example of someone who, through every hardship, has only ever become stronger. I am really into my fitness, and the challenges he sets himself in training are mental. I feel like I would come out of it wanting to run marathons in the desert.
What’s something no one knows about you?
When I was in primary school, whilst all my friends were obsessed with High School Musical and Hannah Montana, I was obsessed with Michael Jackson.
I would dress up as him, wearing one of those funky hats and the white gloves. When he died, I had to take the day off of school.
